Imposter syndrome…

It's that feeling that you're not qualified.

That you'll be called out as a fraud.

That the fallout will be devastating.

If you know what I'm describing, you should be aware that you're not alone.

Please don’t let it stop you. You can overcome it.

Imposter syndrome is felt by people of all genders, socio-economic status, and achievement.

The more accurate term, Imposter Phenomon, was introduced in 1978 by Dr. Pauline Rose Clance and Dr. Suzanne Imes. Their study of 178 white, middle- to upper-class women described a challenge that has since been found to affect just about everyone.

Imposter Phenomon arises in professional, academic, social and family situations. It’s common to athletes and others involved in competition at all levels.

For some, it causes intense anxiety that stops them from working towards goals, performing at their highest level, or sharing their expertise. For others, it’s a fleeting feeling that they dismiss, or compartmentalize, before “knocking it out of the ballpark.” For most, it’s a series of thoughts and feelings that impact us on a wide variety of levels.

Yes, I feel Imposter Phenomenon too.

I’ve learned how to identify it, address it, and dismiss it. That might sound easy but it’s been a journey.

I’ll be sharing why Imposter Syndrome occurs, my journey with identifying and managing it, and ways to address it in my upcoming, free webinar. Sign up here to be notified as soon as it’s scheduled.
